TALKING STICK
A talking stick is an item that is used to indicate the right to speak in a community setting. Each portion of the stick has a specific symbolic meaning. The rabbit fur reminds the speaker to keep his words soft. The blue stone reminds the speaker to keep his words true. The Abalone shell with its irridescent colors reminds the speaker that the truth is based on perspective. The other aspects of this stick have even further nuances. This item comes with an interpretive sheet.

A small bottomless basket is attached by an epoxy adhesive around this depression to thus make a portable mortar. This replication comes with a matching small pestle.
