ARROWSHAFT WOOD
Offered here are a variety of different woods that are used by Phoenix Obsidian Designs for arrowshafts. The wood pieces are fairly straight but may need to have some straightening work done. These wood pieces may also be used for other traditional tools needing a straight shaft like drills or perforators. Pieces are approximately three to four feet long and varying considerably in terms of width.

WOOD PIECES
These are shorter relatively straight sticks of wood from a variety of plants. They can be used for wands or knife handles. These sticks average one to two feet long and an inch to two inches in diameter. Thorns have been removed from the Rose Wood.

ELDERBERRY WOOD Sambucus mexicana
Elderberry wood (Sambucus mexicana) is a soft wood that has a very broad central pith which can be used to make flutes, blow guns, or clapper sticks. These sticks are air dried and relatively straight, averaging two feet long and between 1/2" to 1 1/2" in diameter.
Caution: The green wood contains a cyanide compound which dissipates as it dries. Please let us know if you have a preference for a certain width.

CATTAIL LEAVES
The leaves of cattails can used like corn husks to make dolls and woven to make mats and other textiles. This is a package of about twenty long dried cattail leaves (these leaves have been dried into a curled shape). Availability may be variable due to seasonality.

CATTAIL FLUFF
